wordpress api plugin

hi!
I have a website woocommerce system for sale and I wanna connect my website with a delivery company.
the company has API and I am looking for any method to connect the website with it. I know there are functions.php file to edit but I don’t know-how and some freelancer tell me that if I change the theme inside the website this code will be deleted.
