We are looking for a meticulous and highly organized QA Engineer contractor to work on a website migration project. NCSASPORTS.ORG is one of the larger consumer-facing websites in Chicago and has over 11M unique visitors a year. We are in the final stages of migrating approximately 1600 pages from Drupal 7 to WordPress. We need a QA Engineer contractor to join our team to start testing the WordPress staging site.
In order to minimize impact to organic traffic as much as possible, we are migrating the site exactly one to one. The WordPress migration must be done in the best way possible for SEO, preserving all of the organic traffic and not putting the site at risk. The current site needs to be virtually 100% transferred to the new site. Your expertise in manual and automated testing, writing and executing test plans and ensuring a solid process is followed will help us do that.
You will perform user functionality testing, system testing, CMS admin testing, SEO comparison testing and more. You’ll also be responsible for post-migration testing of the live production site after the WordPress site is released.
You’ll be working with a team of developers, other testers, the Marketing Manager, the EVP of Marketing and others throughout your contract.
Essential Functions:
Refine test plan and work with developers to get your automated test cases working
Perform hands-on, manual QA tasks and as appropriate, setup and do automated testing
Execute tests, isolate and record bugs (focusing on repeatability), and assist the development team in driving resolution through proactive participation
Perform design, localization, link, content implementation tests and SEO content verification
Document test results, clearly identify defects and track defect from reporting to resolution stages
Prepare and communicate summary of testing reports
Provide minimal quality assurance training and direction for those helping with testing
Qualifications:
Demonstrated knowledge of manual and automated QA testing processes, best practices and tools
Experience working with developers to get a website ready for automated testing is a big plus
Website migration and WordPress experience needed
Experience working with larger sites of 1,000+ pages
Functional knowledge and experience with web development practices, design principles and technologies
Experience working on a website where supporting deep SEO and Organic Traffic were a top priority. Working knowledge of how SEO works is very important.
Basic knowledge of HTML, CSS, JS and HTTP status codes
Strong QA analytical skills and problem solving skills
Self-motivated and takes initiative
Great communicator
Ability to work in a fast-paced, nimble environment
Experience with spidering tools, such as Screaming Frog is a plus
Previous experience with Google Analytics, Google Search Console, Google Tag Manager a plus
Contract Timeline: Approx. December-February (Deploy Date scheduled for January 12-14, 2021)
Full time, 40 (or some weeks more) hours/week. Hours are flexible but may require some nights and weekend hours.
