Trouble shoot & fix search engine function of a File Maker 17 Application

I have a filemaker 17 app that is not working as it should. It involves use of an Excel data file that is occasionally updated with new information and imported into Filemaker using a button.
The problems that require fixing are as follows:
1. The filemaker search engine does not recognize the date for new added information from the imported Excel data file should be able to display future years 2024… onward and all dates prior to 2023 as well back to 1900.
2.The Search engine does not properly search for ranges for example Display all line items between 800 horsepower and 1900 horsepower including the 800 and 1900. This same problem exists with the other search function which is titled deadweight (DWT) – The search function capability should be able to show all pertinent line items between a group of ranges associated with titled columns of data.
3. I want to make sure that when new data is entered into the data file, that Filemaker 17 Pro recognizes it correctly which currently is not recognizing dates prior to approximately 2021 or future dates such as 2024 and 2025 and so on through at least the next 100 years.
4. Also wanted to enquire and verify if .XLSX versus .ods files can be used for the data Import from Excel.
5. I will provide a large sample .XLSX data file that you can use to test function but I also would like to be able to add new line items in the future that will be properly and automatically incorporated into the search capability.

The program is already operational, it just needs refinement. I don’t expect it would require more than 1-4 hours maximum effort. Skills needed would include Filemaker 17 Pro, Python, Excel, Libre office, Open office and Search engine logic.
