Need a facelift for an angular site

I have a simple angular site that needs some work. Trying to make it more modern and appealing. I added pictures so you can see the way it looks now and a powerpoint with content that I want added to the site.

I want it to look more modern and lighter, I don’t like the black background at all.

This is for a non profit targeting US Veterans (soldiers).
