GIS-Type Map for Address Lookup in a Small Community
We are a large community located in Florida. There are 1,332 unit located in over 100 buildings.
We have a complex and confusing multi-part system for locating units and buildings. One part consists of street addresses – e.g., 124 N Driftwood Bay. Another part involves unit numbers – e.g., 34D. A complete address would be specified as ‘124 N Driftwood Bay #34D’.
People rarely use the complete address and instead pull some portion out for shorthand to specify a location. For instance, the number part of a unit number also serves as a building number. So ’34D’ can mean unit ‘D’ in building ’34’. And people will often say ‘building 34’. And/or, they might pull the number part of the street address to accomplish the same thing – e.g., building ‘124’ meaning ‘124 N Driftwood Bay’.
In some cases, there are multiple locations with the same numbers. For example, there is a building ’34’ and a street address ’34’ (34 Golf Tee Lane).
We are seeking a developer to do a browser-based map-based address lookup system whereby we can go to an online community map, enter any portion of the address combinations above and be shown candidate addresses. Then if person selects an option, it navigates on the map to the applicable location.
In addition, to unit, building, and street address lookup functionality, there are also neighborhoods and ‘phases’. A neighborhood is a geographic footprint on the property. For instance, an area located near one of the lakes is called ‘Lakefront’. An area located near some tennis courts are called ‘Tennis Village’. ‘Phases’ refer to the order in which different parts of the property were built. E.g., ‘Phase 1’ was the first group of building built. Each building is a member uniquely of one phase.
If possible, we would like the map to be able to highlight these areas somehow – perhaps simplest would be simply to show the applicable neighborhood and phase in a tabular overlay. So for any given address lookup, to show which neighborhood and phase it belongs to. For instance, the unit ‘124 N Driftwood Bay, #34D’ is in the Driftwood neighborhood and is part of Phase 2. Potentially there is some sort of color scheme solution for these areas, but that isn’t necessarily a requirement.
The first priority is the address lookup functionality, but if this additional functionality can be incorporated, that would be great.
Our community has a GIS map and perhaps this is a helpful starting point. Or if not, at least shows the relevant geographic area. https://aeinc.maps.arcgis.com/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=e06cf75b82f649398cb580c01d3d44d5
The community is called Seascape and is located in Miramar Beach, FL.
Attached is a file that provides a partial list of addresses within the community. This illustrates the data set we are working with. We will share a complete list with the selected contractor. The complete data set has 1,332 records – one for each unit in the community.
We are unclear where such an application would be hosted, so we would need a proposal for handling this. We operate a website at visitseascape.com and could potentially create a subdomain or something using that domain. Or maybe there are hosted mapping platforms we could use such as how our existing GIS map works.
