The Switch-Mode Power Supplies (SMPS) based on buck/boost converters are
essential for portable electronic devices to enhance their efficiency and increase battery life.
Engineers have classified DC/DC converters into various types such as buck converters,
boost converters, buck/boost converters and CUK converters. Today most portable
electronic devices employ DC/DC converters in one way or another in order to step up or
step down voltages rather than traditional method using voltage regulator.

I. An understanding of the principles of DC/DC converters
II. A research on state-of-the-art DC/DC converters
III. Calculating the parameters for buck, boost and buck/boost converters
IV. Designing a buck, boost and buck/boost converters using a Pspice Orcard software
V. Analysis and investigation of the characterstics of the DC/DC converter
VI. Evaluation of component ratings such as current, voltage and frequency
VII. Analysis of the energy-transfer process during one period
