Create an App for decoding engine numbers.

Id like to create an app to be intergrated with a shopify page where my customers can enter an engine number and be given the details of that number, the number is a code that relates to the type of engine, year build, colour etc.
There is already an app similar to what im after, it belongs to a competitor. If you are interested please let me know and I can provide more details.
