App Structure

A mobile app (iOS and Android) to search and display information about food items from a database.

Database is stored in a Google Firebase account.

Information is text and pictures.

Data is edited on a Google Sheet and uploaded to the Firebase database. Pictures are also be stored in Firebase storage. Pictures Their links will be added to the database for access through the app.

App Design

On the main page of the app there will be a search bar, tiles (links) to categories of items, and a menu button.

Search bar: will search item names, brand names, tags (keywords), store names etc. These are different columns in the database. Matching items will be displayed with their text and pictures.

Menu: Criteria, ingredients info, FAQ, about us

Extra Features

Sign Up / Login: to display: marked items as favorites, past items (history),

Main page: A donate button directing to a secure payment site, recently added items (as a slider or or single switching tile) and news as a sliding text.

Menu: Share the app with contacts/on social media, rate/review the app on app store.

Settings: Language selection (only for the titles in the app, not the content).

Filter: once a phrase is searched (or maybe before the search), a filter will be displayed below the search bar to select the store, brand, category or similar data.

Similar (recommended) items will be displayed when no item exactly matches the search criteria.

An option to submit the name, store, state, picture, of the searched item (not found in the database) or a new item.

The Google Sheet will be automatically uploaded to the Firebase database. (maybe a script that runs daily or manually or another method).

Pictures will be automatically resized to a certain resolution for optimal size.
