Graphic designer/Cartographer required for basic tour map designs.

This project requires production of some clear and easy to understand route maps, for a travel company to demonstrate the different tours offered throughout a country.

This will require you to produce a clear and basic route map, (something like a block colour silhouette, with key points as reference markers) for each of the tours, along with an overall version encompassing all routes.

You will be starting from scratch and will therefore need to determine the correct reference points for each stop-off. Using the list of stop-off point place names and a real map of the country, you must create your own map of the route travelled from the scale of a bird’s eye view of the country, (or province for shorter routes). This doesn’t need to be exact to the route taken, but it does need to be accurate and clear enough to give a fair representation, of the correct route from this scale/view. For clarity a direct point to point, or dotted line, or however you chose to represent this, is fine, providing the route shown passes through each place markers listed.

Please note that although it doesn’t need to show the exact route taken, this is still a potentially difficult task in mapping out all the different route markers in their correct locations and this is essentially what should take the bulk of the time for this project over the design aspect itself. Working within a set colour scheme you will have creative freedom to produce the finished project in your own design, providing it fits the brief of being a clear and accurate representation of the places to be visited.

I’ve never used this platform before, so I don’t know how much detail to put in on the specifics of the task in this post, but in short it requires:
Design and production of 10 individual tour maps of varying lengths covering points visited on route through the country of Laos, to be created from lists of places/points of interest. there are tours ranging in length from 3 days to around 3 weeks (most are in the middle of that range) with 1-2 notable stops each day. This should give you an idea of what this task involves helping you to give an estimate of the time it will take you.

The tour materials are also available for reference along with the existing company branding, to ensure what you produce is in keeping with the current theme/ colour scheme (green and white), but you do not have existing maps to have to match up with or recreate in a similar vein, so essentially you can make them to your own design. Please note the overall design itself is less important to us than the accuracy and clarity of the tour representation.

This itself a stand-alone task but may have the opportunity for follow up work of a similar nature in the future.
