Technology is an enabling industry, and its implementation is expected to increase the overall
efficiency of the resources (Man, Machine, Materials and Money (4Ms)) employed in any
organization. You are being provided by a company that has in the past successfully implemented
ERP, SCM and CRM application software packages to increase their operational efficiency.
You need to discover and report the following about this company pre and post implementation of
Technology and / or software and describe how the company has moved away from being a product
centric to a customer centric organization.
• Understand and elucidate the supply chain and operational challenges faced by the
organizations following the traditional and legacy systems.
• When and why was it decided to implement technology in said the organization
• What was the total cost of technology implementation (e.g., which software, the cost, the
savings, the time taken to implement the ERP, CRM and SCM packages?
• Study how the organization has benefited in terms of the following: – turnover to employee
ratios, average inventory carrying cost, average operating costs, average turnaround time,
conceptualization to shelf time and gross profit and operating profit margins.
• Some of these organizations may be in the service sector and the inventory cost may not be
directly applicable say e.g., PRS. In such cases study the ratios like asset turnover ratios
instead of inventory and. Manpower cost and Inventory carrying cost.
