Introduction: Write an integrative essay on biblical principles and practices of a Spirit-filled life based on lessons from the Bible’s wisdom literature.
Directions:
1. Start with a title page” “Spirit-Filled Living: Reflections on the Early Church) along with your name, course number, and the date.
2. In your Introduction (200 words), justify why you are turning to the early church for lessons for Spirit-filled living. Draw upon chapters 18-19 of Elwell and Yarbrough’s Encountering the New Testament and Forum 2 to describe how the Apostle Paul invited his churches to walk according to the Spirit, in contrast to the Flesh.
3. In the body of your paper (900 words), write to your contemporaries today. Expound upon biblical life principles for a Spirit-filled life. Select specific incidents, verses, and narratives from the Gospels and Pauline Epistles that illustrate and instruct us in Biblical Literacy and Spiritual Formation. Use the following lines from the Grading Rubric for this project as a checklist to ensure you sufficiently cover these two aspects.

You are free to organize the Body of your paper in any way but use the 6-fold list above to ensure you are explaining the principles and practices of Spirit-filled life. Your instructor will score your paper as to how well you explain and illustrate each of these practices of being led by the Spirit in times of transition.
4. Write a conclusion (200 words) as a call to be sensitive to the Holy Spirit as the first Christians were, remembering God’s faithfulness in times of change.
Format: The format of your essay follows the same format you used for Project 4:
1. Your essay should be 1,300 words, excluding references. That should be 5 double-spaced pages (4.0 pages is not acceptable). Use 12 point, Times New Roman font with one-inch margins on all sides. Indent paragraphs one-half inch. Include page numbers.
2. Part of the essay grade will include grammar, punctuation, spelling, etc. Do not use slang or colloquialisms. Proofread and spell check your essay carefully before submitting it.
3. On the top of page one; list your name, course number, and date.
4. Ensure that you submit your essay to D2L by the proper deadline.
5. Cite all direct quotations (use quotation marks) and indirect quotations (any information that is not your own idea) at the end of sentences or paragraphs with a page number inside parentheses.
