Project detail

We are looking for a Kotlin and/or ReactNative developer. We want build an tool that will help people collect photos linked to map data for OpenStreetMap, an open mapping project that powers some of the most widely used applications in the world. The project is estimated to take about 1 month to complete and during this time we will provide input including wireframes, UX flow, systems design, and information about how OpenStreetMap data is structured.

Required experience

– Track record building Android apps in Kotlin/Java or ReactNative
– Comfortable working off design wireframes and converting them to functional code
– Experience requesting data from APIs
– Strong proficiency in English

How we work

– A weekly call for design briefs and code review
– Flexible hours to accommodate for collaborators in California and Switzerland
– GitHub as the primary repository
– Telegram or Discord as the primary communication channel

The following experience will be highly valuable but is not required

– Online map frameworks such as Leaflet, Mapbox, Google Maps, or MapTiler, MapLibre JS GL
– Map editing or knowledge of OpenStreetMap, GIS
– Applications that utilize camera components
– Augmented Reality (AR) applications
– Gamification elements and/or game creation

Success with this project may lead to follow on work.
