I need to up-date an old website

I have had a website but I would like to change it to a blog so I can manage it on my own

I don’t like the layout and navigation of the site.
I’d like to remove everything and create a simple blog
I’d also like to drive traffic to the new site
or improved site

I want to be able to post a daily blog and add pictures and have traffic directed to by blog

I’d like to see samples of the sites developers have done before engaging in a project

I’m looking for a developer I can trust to do the job economically but competently.
