.Net Developer for Program

I have data in an Excel file we manually output into a Microsoft Word file with tables, statistics, etc.

I would like a program of some kind to automate this anytime I want (data changes all the time and we constantly re-do the word file which takes a lot of energy!)

The program would take our Excel file (very specific format for columns/rows) and then put it into word in the template we want (specific formatting for tables, etc).

It would also do some subtotals of the data by year to show the user trends and things like that. Hopefully there could some filters in what data we want to output.

My best estimate was a .net program would do it,. Open to other ideas!
